MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF
20 October 2008 Opening Ceremony: 1st Vice Commander Stennis, standing in for the excused Commander Abney, called the meeting to order in proper form at 19:35 hrs on Monday 20 October 2008, at the Post home with the POW-MIA flag being in place. Roll Call of Officers: The roll call produced a quorum. 8 Officers and 1 Executive Committee Member (ECM) answered the Roll Call. Past Commander Erb is excused. Executive Committee Members (ECM) Buchs and Nighman are absent. 3rd Vice Commander and Adjutant are vacant. One Post Member attended the meeting. Reading of the minutes: 1st Vice Stennis call for a reading of the minutes of the prior meeting. Historian Rein moved for suspension and acceptance of the minutes as published. With a 2nd from Service Officer Chebra, the motion passes. Introduction of Guests: Rex Buchs, Keith Biel and Rick Duruttya of Squadron 336 are guests. Reports of officers: 1st Vice Commander: 1st Vice Stennis reports 2 veterans for membership. Ignore dues invoices from National if you have paid. Post membership is 74%. 2nd Vice Gladen make the motion to accept Frank Ratino and David C Manley as post members. Chaplain Morgan seconds and the motion passes. Judge Whiting moves to accept the 1st Vice report, Historian rein seconds and the motion passes. 2nd Vice Commander: 2nd Vice Gladen reports that the Browns game celebration went well. He also asks for assistance with Veterans Day, which starts at 15:00 hrs and costs $x.00. Veteran meals and their spouses' are complimentary. Judge Whiting moved for the FO Rodecker to give $xxx.00 to 2nd Vice Gladen as Veterans Day seed money, Historian Rein seconds and the body passes the question. ECM Evans moves to accept the 2nd Vice 3rd Vice Commander: The office is vacant. ECM Evans donated a POW/MIA flag to the post. Finance Officer: Brian Rodecker reports that in the first half of OCT, we took in $xxxx.xx with $xxxx.xx of outflows with a net of $xxxx.xx. Our check book balance is $xxxx.xx. We get 45% of our bingo sales. Our snow plowing will cost $xx per push. Judge Whiting moved and 2nd Vice Gladen seconded to approve the report. Motion carried. Historian: Al Rein has no report. Service Officer: John Chebra reports that Comrade Pavic’s father died. Comrade Moore moved and FO Rodecker made the second to approve the report. Motion carried. Judge Advocate: Judge Whiting has no report. Chaplain: John Morgan, no report. Charity Committee: Judge Whiting and FO Rodecker report that 4 scholarships were funded. Chaplain Morgan moved and 2nd Vice Gladen made the second to approve the report. Motion carried. Trustees: No report required. Old Business: None. New Business: Judge Whiting moves to remove ECM Buchs for absences from 3 consecutive meetings as required by the Constitution and By Laws Article 2, Section 6. The vacancy is to be filled by election at the next Membership Meeting. 2nd Vice Gladen seconds and, with no discussion, the motion passes. Judge Whiting moves to remove ECM Nighman due to his resignation. The vacancy is to be filled by election at the next Membership Meeting. ECM Evans seconds and, with no discussion, the motion passes. Good of the Legion: 1st Vice Stennis reports that Commander Abney has appointed Ken Kapes as the Post 336 Webmaster. The 1st Vice then informs that the Historian is to work with Historian Rein. Comrade Pavic thanks the post for its support following his father’s death and warns that all should make a will to simplify their estate clearance. Judge Whiting thanks Ken Kapes for his work on the post web site and 1st Vice Stennis for his stellar leadership in the Commander’s absence. The Commander adjourns the Executive Committee Meeting.
