MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF
17 November 2008

Opening Ceremony: Commander Abney, called the meeting to order in proper form at 19:30 hrs on Monday 17 November 2008, at the Post home with the POW-MIA flag being in place.

Roll Call of Officers: The roll call produced a quorum. 8 Officers and 1 Executive Committee Member (ECM) answered the Roll Call. 1st Vice Commander Stennis and Executive Committee Member Evans are excused. Chaplain Morgan is absent. 3rd Vice Commander, Adjutant and 1 ECM are vacant. 2 Trustees, 5 Post Members and 5 Sons attended the meeting.

Reading of the minutes: The Commander mentioned the minutes of the prior meeting, but no motion to accept was made or requested.

Introduction of Guests: Rex Buchs (SAL Det 2nd Vice), Willie Wilson SAL Sqdn 336 Commander, Keith Biel, Buck Tipton and Rick Duruttya of Squadron 336 are guests.

Reports of officers:

2nd Vice Commander: 2nd Vice Gladen reports his appreciation of the help from FO Rodecker and many of the Officers during the Veterans Day meal. Veteran meals cost us $xxx. Historian Rein moved to accept the 2nd Vice report. Motion is seconded by SO Chebra and the motion carried.

1st Vice Commander: 1st Vice Stennis arrived at 19:36 hrs. He reports 2 veterans for membership. He'll e-mail a list of unpaid members for Canteen Manager Corky to post. Post membership is 82%. 1st Vice Stennis makes the motion to accept Theodore M Klann and Michael Yanostsik as transfers to Post 336 membership. Comrade Howard seconds and the motion passes. 2nd Vice Gladen moves to accept the 1st Vice report, Trustee Babic seconds and the motion passes.

3rd Vice Commander: The office is vacant. Commander reports that the A&G Testing took place at Fairport, Harvey and Riverside high schools. Color Guard Commander Babic reports at 20:54 his appreciation of Carl French, Lou Denes, John Howard, George Householder, Rick Deruttia, Bob Moore, Mike Ryan, Commander Abney, Judge Advocate Whiting as acting Chaplain, The Navy Reserve, Lt Com McLean, Past Commander Erb, Corky & Buck Tipton, Keith Beil, 1st Vice Stennis and 2nd Vice Gladen for their roles in the Veterans Day Ceremonies. FO Rodecker moved and 2nd Vice Gladen seconded the motion to approve the report, which carried.

Finance Officer: Brian Rodecker reports that his black ink ran out and he could not print the Finance Report. He Has $xxxx from the Canteen and $xxx from Charities (a Boys State reimbursement) to deposit. Our check book balance is $xxxx (+/-) and with deposits will be about $xxxx(+/-). We [owe] about $xxxx on insurance and $xxxx on property taxes. Judge Whiting moved and 2nd Vice Gladen seconded to approve the report. Motion carried.

Historian: Al Rein has no report.

Service Officer: John Chebra reports that Deceased Past Officer Michael Persuti’s Wife Kathy died. Historian Rein moved and Past Commander Erb made the second to approve the report. Motion carried.

Judge Advocate: Judge Whiting has reviewed numerous complaints as discussed on 03 NOV 08. Due to not having some required documents, there will be no hearing until the 01 DEC 08 Membership Meeting. 2nd Vice Gladen moved and ECM Martin seconded to approve the report. Motion carried.

Chaplain: John Morgan, no report.

Pavilion Committee: To build up the funds for natural gas expenses, 2nd Vice Larry Gladen moves to raise the rental fee to $100 in the winter and $75 in the summer. With a second by 1st Vice Stennis and no discussion, the motion passes.

Charity Committee: Chairman Rob Moore reports thank you letters. He has 2 requests for donation and $12,200 in the account. Commander did not require a motion to approve the report.

SAL Advisor: Rex Buchs reports in Lenny’s absence that the Detachment of Ohio will visit our Post 21 FEB 09 for a benefit steak dinner.

Old Business: None.

New Business: None.

Good of the Legion: 1st Vice Stennis and Commander Abney thank the Harvey High Band and all that supported the Veterans Day successes. Trustee Babic echoes the thought and congratulates Comrade Rob Moore for the Marine Corp Birthday function.

With a motion from 2nd Vice Gladen and FO Rodecker’s second, the Commander adjourns the Executive Committee Meeting at 19:59 hrs. The Commander leads in the observance of the ritual.
