MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF
15 December 2008 Opening Ceremony: Commander Abney called the meeting to order in proper form at 21:00 hrs on Monday, 15 December 2008, at the Post home with the POW-MIA flag being in place. The meeting was properly delayed due to extended periods of the Special Executive Committee Meetings convened to hear Davis et al vs. Workman and Ledoux et al vs. Tipton. Roll Call of Officers: The roll call produced a quorum. 8 Officers and 1 Executive Committee Member (ECM) answered the Roll Call. Past Commander Erb and Executive Committee Member Evans are excused. Chaplain Morgan is absent. 3rd Vice Commander, Adjutant and 1 ECM are vacant. 2 Trustees and 1 SAL member attended the meeting. Reading of the minutes: The Commander asked for and got a motion to suspend the reading of the minutes of the prior meeting. The Membership Meeting Minutes needed an addition under “Old Business” that John Howard had asked Commander Abney to appoint him to serve as the Post Adjutant. The Commander made the appointment and applause followed. The motion to suspend and approve the addition was passed by the Committee. The Acting Adjutant has made the required addition to the 01 DEC 08 minutes. Introduction of Guests: Keith Bell of Squadron 336 is a guest. Reports of officers: 1st Vice Commander: 1st Vice Stennis reports Post membership is 88%. 2 veterans for membership. Canteen Manager Corky has posted a list of unpaid members on the bulletin board. Historian Rein moves to accept Joe Mann a transfer from Post 112 to Post 336 membership. With a second the motion passes. 2nd Vice Commander: 2nd Vice Gladen offers no report, but reminds of the 02 JAN 09 Lip-sinc Contest and asks for $xxx seed money. Judge Advocate Whiting moved to accept the 2nd Vice report. Motion is seconded by ECM Martin and the motion carried. 3rd Vice Commander: The office is vacant. 1st Vice Stennis reports that the A&G Testing is completed for Fairport, Harvey and Riverside high schools. A senior has won the County A&G Essay contest. Post 678 will host an A&G banquet on 08 FEB 09 to recognize their successes. The Post has received dates for orientation and participation in Boys’ State. Color Guard Commander Babic reports $xxx raised by a dinner. Finance Officer: Brian Rodecker reports that he received $xxxx from the Canteen and $xxx from Charities (a lawn mowing reimbursement) and $xxx in cash to deposit for $xxxx of total inflows. Our check book balance is $xxxx.98. The Charity Committee shared with the Post of $xxxx from the Bingo split. We spent $xxxx on Bingo licensure and fees. We will pay about $xxxx on Christmas Bonuses. Post 601 has been caught without a gambling license. Historian Rein moved and 2nd Vice Gladen seconded to approve the report. Motion carried. Historian: Al Rein has no report. Trustees: Trustee Smith relates that the trustees have done many projects in the recent past. Judge Advocate: Judge Advocate Whiting has no report. Service Officer: John Chebra reports no deaths. Ron Whiting’s Dad, Mike, was released from the hospital recently. Judge Advocate Whiting moved and 2nd Vice Gladen made the second to approve the report. Motion carried. Chaplain: John Morgan, no report. Pavilion Committee: No report given by Chairperson Gladen. Charity Committee: Chairman Rob Moore has transferred to Post 352. Commander Abney will soon appoint a successor. Commander did not require a motion to approve the report. Old Business: None. New Business: None. Good of the Legion: Jack Smith reports that several people felt that the two hearings were a joke. He replied to their levity that the hearings were not a funny situation. Commander Abney thanks the Color Guard for their work in 2008. He also congratulates the Trustees and Executive Committee for assuring that we have a functional kitchen and two places to gather, the Canteen and the Pavilion. He is grateful for all of the veterans that we owe and looks forward to 2009. He thanks the Officers for the time and diligence they have invested throughout the year and tonight with the hearing schedules. With a motion from Judge Advocate Whiting and a second, the Commander adjourns the Executive Committee Meeting at 21:20 hrs. The Commander leads in the observance of the ritual.
