MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF
17 February 2009 Opening Ceremony: 1st Vice Commander Stennis called the meeting to order in proper form at 19:34 hrs on Tuesday, 17 February 2009, at the Post home with the POW-MIA flag being in place. Roll Call of Officers: The roll call produced a quorum. 9 Officers and 3 Executive Committee Member (ECM) answered the Roll Call. Commander Abney arrived late, but answered the roll call. Chaplain Morgan is excused. 3rd Vice Commander and Adjutant are vacant. Reading of the Minutes: 1st Vice Commander Stennis asked for and got a motion to suspend the reading of the minutes of the prior meeting. Historian Rein moved and 2nd Vice Gladen made the second to suspend the reading of the minutes. Judge Advocate Whiting asked that all Committee members review the minutes for errors because a new team has prepared them. Motion carried. Introduction of Guests: 1st Vice Stennis surrenders the gavel to Commander Abney. Keith Bell and Rick Duruttya, Sqdn. 336 are guests. Reports of Officers: 1st Vice Commander: 1st Vice Commander Stennis … Right now our membership is at 104% (306 members). He said there are a lot of Vets who would like to be members but cannot attend the meetings. If you know of someone, please give him their names and he can contact them. Judge Advocate Whiting moves to accept the 1st Vice Commander Stennis’ report and Past Commander Erb seconded. Motion carried. 2nd Vice Commander: 2nd Vice Commander Gladen had no report. 3rd Vice Commander: The office is vacant. Commander Abney reports that we just finished up the Americanism testing program and will begin the AIG testing program and will begin interviewing on 28 FEB 09 using all past practices of sending out money to the for boys state for orientations including gas money to go to Bowling Green. The Color Guard Denes reports that they attended a funeral this morning and did a presentation at the cemetery. Lou Denis read a thank you letter from one of the boys that received trophy. Finance Officer: Brian Rodecker said that at the regular meeting he reported that January was a very bad month. He reported that he received $xxx in dues and $xxxx from ticket money split. The inflow was $xxxx and the outflow was $xxxx. Our check book balance is $xxxx.19. He had to cash in a $xxxx CD. 1st Vice Commander Gladen moved and EMD Evans seconded to approve the report. Motion carried. Historian: Al Rein has no report. Service Officer: John Chebra said he had two deaths to report. James Hunter, a high school student and Auxiliary Member, Patricia McCrone’s brother. Commander Abney mentioned that one death was post related and the other was not EMC. Howard moved and EMC Martin made the second to approve the report. Motion carried. Judge Advocate: Judge Advocate Whiting reported that he had passed out copies of the Trustees’ Rules of Practice for the benefit of ECM’s. ECM Evans moved and ECM Howard seconded to approve the report. Motion carried. Trustees: No report. SAL Advisor: Rick Duruttya, reporting for their Advisor promotes the $10 dinner intended to raise funds for “Spanky” Vanburen’s bid for National Chaplain. Chaplain: No report. Pavilion Committee: No report. Charity Committee: No report. Old Business: Judge Advocate Whiting mentioned that there should be a slate for nominations at the next Membership meeting. Commander Abney discussed the BALD Run. Judge Advocate Whiting moved that the post will be donating the use of the Post’s facilities for the BALD Run on Saturday, 27 JUN 09 and expects that they treat the facilities with dignity and respect and that no funding be made in addition to the facilities use. EMC Evans seconded. Motion carried. Comrade Kapes read a letter that he received from Lee Kelly, a totally disabled veteran requesting financial assistant for a trip he will be making in the fall. Judge Advocate Whiting said that this should be presented to the Charities Committee at the next Membership meeting. New Business: None Good of the Legion: The A&G Banquet on 08 FEB 09 had more than 60 participants and their families attend from Post 336. (Applause) With a motion from Finance Officer Rodecker and a second from Judge Advocate Whiting, the Commander adjourns the Executive Committee Meeting at 20:08 hrs. The Commander leads in the observance of the ritual.
