MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF
15 June 2009 Opening Ceremony: Commander Abney called the meeting to order in proper form at 19:33 hrs on Monday, 15 JUN 2009, at the Post home with the POW-MIA flag being in place. Roll Call of Officers: The roll call produced a quorum. 10 Officers and 2 Executive Committee Members (ECM) answered the Roll Call. 2nd Vice Commander Gladen, Chaplain Morgan and ECM Martin are excused. 3rd Vice Commander and Adjutant are vacant. Reading of the Minutes: Commander Abney called for a suspension of the reading of the Membership Meeting Minutes 01 JUN 09. ECM Evans moved for the suspension of the reading of the minutes as published and Historian Rein seconded. Motion carried. Introduction of Guests: Keith Bell and Rick Duruttya are guests from our SAL Sqdn 336. Reports of Officers: 1st Vice Commander: 1st Vice Commander Stennis reported Ken Bittom, a past member has relocated back to our area. He introduced Bittom and Robert Loomis, Air Force Veterans for membership. Judge Advocate Whiting moved to accept these two veterans for membership with a second from Past Commander Erb. Motion carried. The 1st Vice has our Post at 108% membership which is over 316 for a member count. Commander Abney added that the Ladies Auxiliary and SAL Sqdn are at 100%. He noted that he is still receiving past due membership checks for 2009 which will be applied to 2010. Lee Kelly moved to accept 1st Vice Commander Stennis’s report with a second from John Howard. Motion carried. 2nd Vice Commander: 2nd Vice Commander Gladen is excused. Judge Advocate Whiting asked Trustee Smith to pass along a copy of the agreement between Post 336 and Lake Communities Development Corp to 2nd Vice Commander Gladen who will soon be installed as a Trustee. 3rd Vice Commander: The office is vacant. Commander Abney reported that we ended up with 10 boys and 9 girls for the final orientation and will be with them again on Father’s Day this Sunday. The Commander congratulated everyone. The Color Guard did a flag retirement. Finance Officer: Brian Rodecker reports that the inflow was $x,xxx and the outflow was $x,xxx.81 which nets at $x,xxx.19. Our check book balance is $xx,xxx.45. Taxes of $x,xxx are due next month and we are doing all right. Ticket income last month was $x,xxx. All financial details are in his report and it was distributed. Historian Rein moved and ECM Evans seconded to approve Finance Officer (FO) Rodecker’s report. Historian: Al Rein has no report. Service Officer: John Chebra reports that Ted Klann is ill. FO Rodecker moved and Judge Advocate Whiting made the second to approve the report. Motion carried. Trustees: Trustee Smith said Trustees serviced the air conditioners. Judge Advocate Whiting said he appreciated the work that Trustee Dillon and his team did in replacing dining area chair casters. Chaplain: No report Judge Advocate: Judge Advocate Whiting mentioned that there was a special meeting scheduled at 18:30 hrs. The complainant was present but the accused did not show because he was in the hospital. Ron was not notified and was disappointed with the lack of communication. He thanked Commander Abney for settling the complainant and witnesses down. No one left angry. ECM Howard moved with a second from Past Commander Erb to approve the report. Motion carried. Charity Committee: 1st Vice Commander Stennis reports that he and the Commander will attend the Project Hope Banquet. We have about $x,xxx in their special account. Charity has 5 requests on file. Many people have praised Charity’s and the Post’s support. He will try to have some of their leaders visit a meeting to talk to us. ECM Martin moved and Finance Officer Rodecker seconded to approve the report. Motion carried. SAL Advisor: No report. Judge Advocate Whiting reminded that during the 01 JUN 09 Meeting, Commander Abney had appointed Past Commander Erb as the Advisor to the SAL with Lenny Wietrzykowski, the prior Advisor, to serve on the Advisory committee. Old Business: None New Business: Finance Officer Rodecker mentioned that 2nd Vice Commander Gladen has gone out of his way helping with many functions in the Post. Finance Rodecker moved to give him a life membership. Judge Advocate Whiting seconded. Motion carried. The funding will come from post funds. Good of the Legion: Past Commander Erb did remember to bring one of the flags and said they are a good size which the Color Guard could use and fly at the Post. He also has the 2009 VA Benefit Pamphlets available tonight for anyone who wants one. The VA or Soc Sec stimulus checks started to go out this week. If you receive two checks it is in error and one must be returned. Judge Advocate Whiting stated that the Department Convention has been set up for three of the delegates and one alternate 26-28 JUN in Dayton. 1st Vice Commander Stennis made reservations. Because delegates will be accompanied, one night will be paid by the Legion and the other night will be out of pocket. The Finance Officer will try to work out something to compensate the delegates for food and fuel. Judge Advocate Whiting moves for adjournment, ECM Evans seconds and the Commander adjourns the Executive Committee Meeting at 19:59 hrs. The Commander leads the ritual.
