MINUTES OF THE MEMBERSHIP MEETING OF
01 December 2008

Opening Ceremony: Commander Abney, called the meeting to order in proper form at 19:35 hrs on Monday 01 December 2008, at the Post home with the POW-MIA flag being in place.

Roil Call of Officers: The roll call produced a quorum. 9 Officers and 2 Executive Committee Members (ECM) answered the Roll Call. Chaplain Morgan and Trustee Dillon are excused. 1 Executive Committee Member (ECM) positions, the 3rd Vice Commander and the Adjutant are vacant. 2 Trustees and 2 Post Members attended the meeting.

Reading of the minutes: The Commander called for a motion to suspend the reading of the minutes of the prior meeting. The motion was made for acceptance of the minutes as published. With a 2nd from the floor, the motion passes.

Introduction of Guests: Buck Tipton, Keith Biel and Rick Duruttya of Squadron 336 are guests.

Reports of officers:

1st Vice Commander: 1st Vice Stennis reports 85% of quota. He warns all who receive second dues notices to not send checks if they have previously paid, but notify the 1st Vice. Comrade Howard moves to accept the 1st Vice report, ECM Martin seconds and the motion passes.

2nd Vice Commander: 2nd Vice Gladen has no report.

3rd Vice Commander: The office is vacant. The Commander reports that A&G testing scores placed one of our youth as a County winner. He and the 1st Vice will ask Charities to pay for the winners' FEE 09 banquet expenses. Color Guard Commander Babic reports on this month's activities. The 3rd Vice report is strictly informational, thus no motion to accept is needed.

Finance Officer: Brian Rodecker reports for the month of NOV, we took in $xxxx.00 with $xxxx.06 of outflows that netted $xxxx.94. We got more than $xxxx for our bingo sales and Canteen Sales profit of $xxxx. The month ahead will be tight. Historian Rein moved and SO Chebra seconded to approve the report. Motion carried.

Historian: Al Rein has no report.

Chaplain: John Morgan is excused, no report.

Service Officer: John Chebra sadly reports the death of Roselle Fuller who was lovingly interred on a cold November day. John also reports 2 illnesses; Ron Clark (hip replacement) and Mike Whiting (bronchitis). Judge Advocate Whiting moved and Trustee Babic added the second to approve the report. Motion carried.

Judge Advocate: Judge Whiting reports the continuance of two hearings from the Special Executive Committee meetings held earlier in the evening. ECM Martin questions the length of time to hear complaints of misbehavior in the Canteen. The Judge Advocate answers the question. 2nd Vice Gladen moved and Sergeant-at Arms Denes made the second to approve the report. Motion carried.

Trustees: Judge Whiting moves to suspend the reading of their report and accept it as published. Historian Rein seconds and the membership passes the motion.

Charity Committee: Comrade Moore is absent; no report.

Pavilion Committee: Chairman Gladen had no report.

Old Business: None.

New Business: 1st Vice Stennis moves to purchase the Lake County Council raffle tickets (50 each at $1.00 each). With a second by ECM Evans and no discussion, the motion passes.

Good of the Legion: ECM Martin suggests that we do something to bolster the probable low level of gifting anticipated for troops overseas this holiday season. Webmaster Kapes refers to the Post website's link that assists visitors who wish to send e-mail greetings to troops away from home. ECM Evans reminds that veterans out of uniform may salute during the pledge and Anthem in place of hats over hearts. Comrade Howard volunteers for the Adjutant position and Commander Abney accepts the offer by appointing John to the office directing him to work with the Judge Advocate to learn the job. FO Rodecker introduces a woman that would explain ways to save money on buying natural gas. Sergeant-at-Arms Denes offers that the canteen sign that prohibits profanity should encourage any who feels that another is profane, should point out and question the phraseology. FO Rodecker moves for adjournment which is seconded by Adjutant Howard and passed by the body. Commander Abney closes the meeting following proper ritual at 20:07 hrs.
