MINUTES OF THE MEMBERSHIP MEETING OF
7 December 2009

Opening Ceremony: Commander Abney called the meeting to order in proper form at 19:30 hrs on Monday, 7 December 2009, at the Post home with the POW-MIA flag being in place.

Roll Call of Officers: The roll call produced a quorum. 7 Officers and 3 Executive Committee Members (ECM) answered the Roll Call. 2nd Vice Morgan, Judge Advocate Whiting, and Service Officer John Chebra were excused. The adjutant is vacant.

Introduction of Guests: The members welcome Rex Buchs (Ohio Det 1st Vice [S.A.L.]) and Keith Bell.

Reading of the Minutes: Commander Abney did not call for reading of the 16 November 2009 Membership Meeting.

Reports of Officers:

1st Vice Commander: 1st Vice Stennis stated the membership round-up in conjunction with the S.A.L and Ladies Auxiliary was successful 16 members paid their due. As of today the Post membership is at 84% and 266 have paid. He has five people to vote on for membership David Dibble, Richard Pentek, Kevin McSween, Robert Bates, and Louis Kratzert. Historian Al Rein moved to accept the five candidates for membership with a second from Chaplain Lee Kelly, the motion carried.

2nd Vice Commander: 2nd Vice Morgan is excused. No report.

3rd Vice Commander : 3rd Vice Robert Loomis met and spoke with City officials about his Certificate of Achievement Program. A&G Testing is completed and 27 kids will be receiving awards at the A&G Banquet.
The Color Guard participated at Winter fest and will participate in the Harvey High School building Dedication. ECM Mike Evans moved to accept the 3rd Vice Report and, with a second from Comrade John Howard.

Historian: Historian Rein has been working on the upcoming presentation of the Spirit Award in honor of Frank Smolinski. The award presentation is schedule for Jan 19th. Frank Smolinski’s son Don, has been invited as a guest. ECM Mike Evans moved to accepts the Historian’s report and, with a second from Chaplain Leo Kelly.

Service Officer: Past Commander Erb gave the report. The Ohio War Bonus for Persian Gulf Vets passed in the recent election. The VA is working on an initiative focusing on homeless veterans. The Veterans Tower at Wade Park is nearly complete. The Ohio Vets Home has openings. Chaplain Lee Kelly moved to accept the Service Officers report, with a second from Comrade Bob Moore.

Finance Officer: Finance Officer Roedecker reports for the month of November our outflows were $xxxx.69 with an inflow of $xxxx.50 and $xxxx.19 in the red for the month of November. The balance in the check book is $xxxx.94. The report was distributed to the members. There will be a split of $xxxx tonight of the ticket sales. Historian Al Rein moved to accept the Finance Officers report, with a second from Comrade John Howard.

SAL Advisor: The SALs held a Benefit Dinner for Lcpl Baker, which was well supported, and a check for $xxxx was given to the family.

Trustees Report: Copies of the Trustee report was distributed.

New Business: Past Commander Erb moved for a motion for $xxx for delegates for the Mid Winter Conference, with a second by Al Rein. The motion passed.
Past Commander Erb moved for a that the Post supply the S.A.L’s hospitality suite with $xxx worth of refreshments for Mid Winter Conference, with a second from Marty Finzel. The motion passed. Commander will turn in the name of Ron Martin and Carl Lubeking for the vacant position of Lake County Veteran Service Commissioner. Commander Abney appointed David Dibble as Adjutant.

Good of the Legion: A moment of silence was had in remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day.

With Motion from FO Roedecker to adjourn the meeting and a second from Lee Kelly, and the motion carried. Commander Abney adjourned the Membership meeting at 19:41 hrs. The Commander led the ritual.
