Opening Ceremony: Director Steven Anderson called the meeting to order in an informal manner at 19:03 hours on Thursday 22 April 2010, at Post 336.Attendance: Director, Steven Anderson, Assistant Director, Bill Halsey, Secretary/Treasurer, Geraldine Anderson, Mike Johnston, Ron Whiting and guest Ernie VanAllen. This produced a quorum. Late arrival by Ken Kapes. Reading of the minutes: Ron Whiting motioned that the reading of the minutes be suspended for this meeting and that the minutes be sent to each member via e-mail. Mike Johnson seconded this. Motion passed. Old Business: Insurance: Ron Whiting spoke with Brian Brockway and all members are covered. The insurance coverage is still causing some major questions and strong feelings. The planning of our first fundraising event is still on hold until further questions can be answered to the satisfaction of the members. Motion was made by Mike Johnston to table the discussion until next meeting. Ron Whiting seconded this. Motion passed. The Memorial Day Parade: We will be meeting at Post 336 at 9:30 am and leaving at 9:45 am to participate. Ron Whiting suggested a Vanguard so the bikes don’t overheat in the slow pace of the parade. We are currently awaiting the Sheriff’s approval. New Business Operation Welcome Home: Steve Anderson discussed an invitation we received from D.A.V. to participate in Operation Welcome Home at the Painesville Fairgrounds in July. We cannot sell anything, however we can sign up new members and discuss what the American Legion Riders are about. Any decision on this was tabled until next meeting. Vacant Officer Positions: We still are in need of a membership chairman. This was tabled until next meeting. Parade Attire: Memorial Day attire was discussed and it will be a white shirt w/collar and long sleeves under our vest. Any other event attire will be decided on depending on the event. Mike Johnston motioned that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Bill Halsey. Meeting adjourned at 20:15. |
