Commander's Corner.... Greetings! How is my extended family doing? Your Commander and his family wish all the members a Happy New Year and hope our heavenly Father blesses you all through out the New Year. The year 2009 was a year of many changes. As if your leader, I found myself trying to manage my time if wisely, to be here and there and everywhere and to make sure I didn't miss whatever needed to be done. It has been an overwhelming task at times as it has been for our fellow Legion officers, but it is if something we all have to try to do for the good of the if club. With that being said, I honor each and every member, as you are the Ambassadors for the Post. We do our civic duties with integrity and our devotion to the members has given us the title of the best Legion in Lake County or the Number 1 club in North East Ohio. This has been accomplished by treating if members and guest with a genuine feeling that has if become second nature to us. We have found a chemistry that draws members to stay and others to join and to make a difference in our community, state and nation. With your help I will continue to try to distribute my time to the many aspects at our Post if as we continue to strive for success. I pray for our Post to give the utmost respect to our God who gives us the path of light to follow. We have strength in numbers and as those numbers continue to increase our Legion family teaches and learns from the additions to our post in the coming year. Happy New Year my Legion family and God bless if our troops as in 2010 our world leaders have decided to increase the troops support in was zones. They will need our extra prayers to keep them safe now and in the times ahead. Derrick Abney, Commander
PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND THE POST, SAL, OR AUXILIARY MEETINGS.

Happy New Year to everyone. December was a very busy month for the Auxiliary and the Junior Girls. We celebrated the Holiday Season by giving to others. We delivered five food baskets at Thanksgiving and another five baskets at Christmas to families in need. We set up our "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" to collect donations of hats and gloves for the Hope Chest. We also participated in the Community Santa program at Lake County Job and Family Services providing a very Merry Christmas to a Lake County family of four. Our Junior girls went shopping for food supplies and Christmas snacks for the USO. They also donated to the "Toys for Tots" program ran by the US Marine Corp. The girls made individual personalized Christmas ornaments for a local Painesville nursing home. They delivered them and sang some Christmas carols for the clients. Good job to our 2nd Vice for a very enjoyable children's Christmas Party! Whew! December is over. What a busy month for all! Now we start our new year out with more good things. Starting in January, breakfast will be served on Sundays again for the winter months. The food is very good, so try to come to a few. This years breakfasts are a combined effort of the Post, Sons, Auxiliary and Color Guard. Our fish fries will be starting January 8th and running through Good Friday. On Sunday, February 14th (actual Valentines Day), we will be holding our annual Sweetheart Benefit Reverse Raffle. As usual this is a breakfast buffet. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. with the drawing at 11:00. The food is good and it's a lot of fun, so get your tickets early. Only 100 tickets are sold for a $1000 grand prize and are on sale now. Again I would like to thank ail of you for your support to the Ladies Auxiliary. In closing I would like to continue to pray for our troops and their families.

I hope everyone had a Happy Holiday. I would like to thank everyone who came out and supported our fundraiser for one of our fallen soldiers. We raised a $1000 for them. Let's say a prayer for the Baker family and friends during this time. Our reverse raffle was very successful. I would like to thank everyone who helped and attended our raffle. As winter sets in, let us not forget to support our club . We have a lot of dinner plans ahead so come out and support the Post, Auxiliary and S.A.L dinners. They have done a great jobs with all the dinners they have done, so lets give them a hand

S.A.L. Commander I am happy to say that our membership is doing well. Right now we are at 85% for the month of December. If you remember, I did have a bet with the Post First Vice Charles Stennis, and we are ahead at this time. Thank you! Membership is the key for being where we are today. We need our dues paid as soon as possible for two reasons. We get money back from the State and most of all we are recognized by the State as well. When we go to the convention, it is nice to hear our Post brought up in recognition of membership. If you remember, we were 100% last year and I would like us to be there this year. We are not far away at this time, of reaching that goal, and I thank all of you all for that. For any questions concerning membership please contact me, and I will do my best to answer your questions. Remember please say a prayer for our troops and their families, and most of all God Bless America.

Greetings YAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The American Legion Post #336 made it through one of the toughest years America has seen in a very long time. Even though our Post has seen better years, we are standing strong, financially solid and still contributing to our community. Now, how did we get though last year so well. I'll tell you how we did. You all stuck together. Our officers never eased up, they continued to attend meetings and find ways to keep memberships up. The Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion and Post provided meals, raffles and entertainment. They didn't quit, even when they were lucky enough to sometimes break even on their dinners, they kept going until the profits came around. We did it together as our members and guests continued to frequent our Post which helped our Canteen to provide the Post with profits. The Painesville Stokes Clinic helped our veterans keep healthy on a weekly basic since this summer, along with OTAP providing our veterans with the information they needed to get jobs. I'll tell you who did it. YOU!!!!!!!!! ALL OF YOU THAT BELIEVE IN YOUR POST HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A New Year is upon us and we will continue to serve our beloved members and guests with dinners, raffles and entertainment for the next three months because we believe in you. Look at your calendars because they are full. The Ladies Auxiliary, Sons and Post will provide dinners and entertainment and Woody, Dave and Mary Taylor Brooks will be here to keep you entertained. We will also have a customer appreciation day to show our gratitude to our members, so check your calendar and menu boards for any updates or changes. The New Year will bring new challenges, if you need something, ask. Members are here to help when they can. What you need may not be new, but we can try to help each other out together. I was looking for a TV set and after a couple of months there is was, as a matter of fact we ended up with 2, but I got the big one with a remote. He he. I know this isn't a topic I usually talk about, but lets face it 2010 is going to be difficult. My point is, you may not get what you ask for, but our members will give it there all to try to help out in some way. Talk to each other if you hear of a job somewhere. If you can't afford a babysitter maybe someone can help you out occasionally. Your resolution to help can be the solution to the problems of others if we are willing. My wish for the New Year is for everyone to continue on the positive path we have been on. That also means when conflicts arise, please find a way to solve them with honor. Our troops continue to fight with honor why can't we make our amends through their example. Let God lead us through another year together as we pray for those precious members we lost last year, hopefully they will be there to guide us through our times ahead. God Bless our Troops and all those that find these words. God Bless our Troop and their families, and all those that find these words.
